TNI News Service (TNS)
Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 5th September, 2020: Siliguri District Hospital is going to come out of the so-called Covid hibernation due to the Covid situation prevailing throughout the country. The electric surgery was halted due to the Corona situation. However, the surgery will now start in Siliguri District Hospital. Apart from this OPD will be fully functional and patients can consult the doctors in the Hospital. Hospital Super Dr. Amitabha Mandal told the reporters after the RKS (Rugi Kalyan Samiti) meeting held at the Hospital premises. The office bearers who were present in the meeting were the Chairman of the RKS Dr. Rudranath Bhattacharya, CMOH Dr. Pralay Acharya and others. In a statement released to the press the chairman Dr. Bhattacharya stated the points discussed in the RKS meeting today. The discussion of the meeting is given below.
80 beds which have been already earmarked as isolation beds in different areas wards are functioning very well. The comparative statement of OPD attendance of last May to July 2020 to corresponding months of 2019 revealed that the old cases has fallen to almost 1/3rd of the previous records. Reason behind this was mainly due to multiple factors such as Covid 19 infection, frequent lockdown, poor transportation etc. Now gradually situation has been improving and the Patient-OPD turnover has started increasing. Similar trend is also observed in indoor patient admission also. Condition of mortuary cooler was discussed in detail. Out of 8 machines, 4 machines are in working conditions. This has been hampering preservation of bodies to a great extent. PWD Electric division has been asked to look after the same. The RKS Chairman and the CMOH requested all staffs of the hospital to attend training program on all national health platforms sincerely to achieve the targets like immunization, OCP & injectable contraceptives etc. So far large numbers of blood samples have been tested and none found to be positive in Dengue fever. The shortage of manpower was discussed and Government will be approached again for needful. Dr. R. N. Bhattacharya told that there should not be complacency and all must work in a team for better services.
